Drive West on The Great Alpine Highway (SH73) through Yaldhurst.
After passing through West Melton (10 mins from Yaldhurst) you will travel for approximately another 12 minutes and reach the Aylesbury corner on your left.
A large sign directs you to Hororata, Rakaia Gorge and Mount Hutt.
Turn left, go over the railway line, veer right, and from here follow the Bealey Road to Hororata township.
At the Hororata township, take the second exit at the roundabout and continue along the Hororata-Coalgate Road, past the cafe (on the right).
St. John's church is located approximately 2 minutes from the township at the intersection with Downs Rd.
Continue straight ahead, bearing right, and you will see the sign for TE WAIORA HOUSE just past the wooden church on the right.
(Allow 45 mins to 1 hour travelling time from Christchurch)
Alternatively you can travel from Christchurch through Darfield, turning left at the Trinity church on the western edge of town.
Follow this road for approximately 10mins, and turn left at the sign to Coalgate.
Continue on this road until you come to the TE WAIORA HOUSE sign on your left (about 5 km from Coalgate).
